The Triumph of Christ

The Triumph of Christ

Colossians 2:6-8, 13-15

Call to Worship: Psalm 89:5-8 (NIV)

     The heavens praise your wonders, Lord,
              your faithfulness too, in the assembly of the holy ones.
     For who in the skies above can compare with the Lord?
              Who is like the Lord among the heavenly beings?
     In the council of the holy ones God is greatly feared;
              he is more awesome than all who surround him.
     Who is like you, Lord God Almighty?
              Lord, are mighty, and your faithfulness surrounds you.

Scripture Reading: Mark 8:34-36 (NLT)

34 Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, â€œIf any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me. 35 If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it. 36 And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?
