Helpful Internet Resources

NET Bible, fonts for NET Bible.

Audio files – mp3 files of the Hebrew text: the files that used to be hosted by Audio Scriptures International.

Orthodox Jewish Bible – translated by Dr. Phillip Goble of Artists for Israel International. All significant Hebrew words (or in the NT the Hebrew words lying behind the Greek ones) are transliterated rather than translated into English, so as to enhance recognition of significant words, themes and ideas. The entire Bible (both Tanakh and Brit Chadasha = New Testament) is available by individual chapter. In addition the Brit Chadasha (New Testament) is also available as a single pdf file.

Online bar/bat mitvah tutor – here you can hear the Hebrew text sung. Offered by World ORT, a Jewish educational site.

Unicode Texts: from Tyndale House (MT, LXX, GNT).

Unicode Fonts:

  • Tyndale House, Cambridge: Unicode Font Kit (uses Cardo).
  • SIL (Summer Institute of Linguistics): SIL Ezra (Hebrew); Charis, Doulos, Gentium (3 fonts using multilingual Latin-based alphabets, useful for transliteration); I generally use Gentium Plus.
  • SBL (Society of Biblical Literature): SBL fonts: SBL Hebrew, SBL Greek, SBL BibLit.

iTanakh – a gateway to Internet resources for the study of the Tanakh, the Hebrew Bible.
