Men, after a one year hiatus, our Men’s Retreat has returned! We hope that you can join us for a great weekend of teaching and adventure at Mount Hermon, November 5-7. Our speaker this year is Mark Mitchell, author of Ray Stedman’s biography Portrait of Integrity, and recently retired pastor of Central Peninsula Church. Mark will share four messages on Jonah: Runaway Prophet and Relentless God.
Jonah was a prophet of God who tried to run away from God. He knew what God wanted him to do, but he didn’t want any part of it. Have you ever tried to run away from God? It sounds ridiculous. If there is a God, how could anyone expect to run away from him successfully? But we do try. Sometimes it’s quite obvious we’re running. We know He knows what we’re doing, and we know it’s flat-out wrong. But there are also times we’re running, and we don’t even know it, or at least won’t admit it. Like when we know deep down he wants us to do something, but we ignore it or even pretend we don’t really know what he wants us to do. Sometimes we run away from God because we don’t like what he’s doing. We simply don’t want to participate in his purposes. What is God calling YOU to do? How are YOU responding to Him? In what ways is God relentlessly calling YOU to align with His purposes? What is holding YOU back?
